San Fernando sewer prepared for the arrival of storms

Hidralia, together with the City Council of San Fernando, have resumed the preventive campaign to clean the scuppers

Hidralia, a company that manages the supply and sanitation network of San Fernando, and the City Council, have resumed the intensive cleaning campaign of the sewerage system of the municipality for the beginning of the autumn season, according to a plan designed to improve the drainage system of the scuppers.

The objective is to mitigate the effects of some episodes of rain that intensify as a result of climate change and that are expected to be extreme at the beginning of the season, due to the high temperatures of this summer and the accumulation of humidity in the environment.

In this way, during the months of August, September and October, intensive cleaning of the more than 9000 scuppers that San Fernando has as well as its sewer networks will be carried out. A reinforcement campaign, in addition to the maintenance work carried out daily, which will pay special attention to the most critical areas of the city. Among these are the networks of San Onofre and San Marcos, the bridge of the Great Power and the Venta de Vargas, as well as Bazán, Pery Junquera or the Callejón de la Marina, among others.

Minimize the risk of flooding

Within this planning, the cleaning and maintenance of the channels of the existing spillways in the city, mainly those located in the area of the Parque del Oeste and The Fire Station, takes on special relevance. To this end, it is systematically being cleared and cleaned to facilitate at all times the evacuation of rainwater that reaches them, thus minimizing the risk of flooding.
