Hidralia, a company belonging to the Suez group, has been chosen to share in the round table, called The commitments and contribution of the private sector to the achievement of the SDGs, the strategy of the company as a model of good practices with sustainable development. The International Technical Mission, which is touring different Andalusian cities and Madrid this week, aims to raise awareness of new management models, share experiences of public and private management, show new solutions and new financing models to achieve sustainable development goals of the UN, putting the focus on local governments as necessary drivers of the implementation of real measures, for their proximity and direct impact with citizens.

Calero highlighted in his speech how Suez Spain has integrated the UN SDGs into the Group's global strategy and all of its companies, but in an orderly and viable manner, not as a mere declaration of intent. Thus, a concrete plan of action has been established with clear, concise, assessable and ambitious objectives, to contribute to the extent of the possibilities of the company its grain of sand in achieving them.

Bearing in mind that Hidralia is a company dedicated to the integral management of the water cycle, SDG 6 (water and sanitation for all) is one of the main objectives and many of its actions are directed towards its goals, although it does not leave behind the action for climate, the development of cities, the eradication of poverty and, of course, the necessary alliances to carry them out.

Efficiency in water management, resource saving, maintenance of its infrastructures, reduction of the carbon footprint and various measures against climate change were the main messages of its intervention, in which it highlighted how Suez Spain has achieved that 17% of its fleet is sustainable, a 48.3% reduction of carbon footprint, 15% of self-production of energy and the reuse of 36 Hm3 of reclaimed water.

As concrete examples, he stressed the necessary impulse of Innovation in all processes to achieve this water and environmental efficiency, such as the application of ice for network cleaning. He also recalled the change of paradigm that has been established in the group, with the South Biofactory of Granada as a reference, infrastructure that has gone from being a water treatment plant to become a real facility for waste recovery and energy self-sufficiency.
